The heroes page!
In my eyes, all VC recipients are heroes.

Having been wandering around several cemeteries, I stumbled across the fact that Bristol and it's local surroundings has it's own share of Victoria Cross heroes. Some were born in Bristol including Somerset and Gloucestershire, the others are from all over.

And the last actual Bristolian to receive the VC, was the Uncle of a work colleague. The recipient was Sgt Maurice Albert Wyndham ROGERS* of The Wiltshire Regiment (Duke Of Edinburgh's) (Plaistow). I've spoken to my colleague and Sgt Rogers has had a road named after him. The road, believed to be on a new housing estate near the barracks in Devizes in Wiltshire, is called

Sgt Rogers Way.

I've set up a seperate page dedicated to Sgt Rogers, so click here* to read more.
